Templeton ends drought against Santa Ynez to stay undefeated, Nipomo edges Cabrillo

The Templeton High girls volleyball team beat six-time defending Los Padres League champion Santa Ynez 3-0 on Thursday in a key match. The Eagles won 25-23, 25-15 and 25- to complete the first half of LPL play a perfect 6-0. Santa Ynez, which went through the previous six season of league play undefeated, dropped to 4-2 in LPL matches and 12-9 overall.

Fans stormed the court at Templeton High to celebrate the Eagles' first win over Santa Ynez in seven years.

Heather Fields led the Eagles with 11 kills, while Mari Stewart and Carly Roth each collected 8. Sydney Roth tallied 35 assists, while libero Lindsey Wyatt compiled 22 digs. Fields added 10 digs to complete a double-double for Templeton.

Nipomo beat Cabrillo in five sets on Thursday to improve to 5-1 in LPL matches and stay one game behind Templeton in the standings.

The Titans won 25-17, 19-25, 21-25, 25-14 and 15-6. Cristina Ozzimo recorded 9 kills and 46 assists. Kiana Worth tallied 14 kills to go with 6 aces, while Taylor Nevitt led the Titans with 22 kills. Libero Sarah Stahl compiled 35 digs for the Titans.
