Templeton Nutcracker kicks off this weekend

It's just part of the holidays for so many of us...enjoying a visit from the Sugar Plum Fairy and all the adventures that come with it. The North County Dance and Performing Arts Center in Templeton will present it's 16th annual version of the holiday fantasy ballet, the Nutcracker, starting this weekend.

This is the largest cast ever in the production's 16-year history. "This year we are proud to feature Joffre Ballet alumnus Michael Levine in the role of Cavalier, and Huntsville Ballet Principal Matthew Jacobs as the Nutcracker Prince." says Director Cheryle Armstrong. Local dancers include Shelby Fredrick as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Tori Akers as the Snow Queen and Mikaela Farrer as Young Clara.

Cast members train at Class Act Dance and Performing Arts Studio in Paso Robles, and local dancers in leading roles are members of the Paso Robles Chamber Ballet.

Set to Tchaikovsky's beloved musical score that was first performed in 1892, The Nutcracker Ballet tells the story of a young girl named, Clara, who dreams that her Nutcracker doll transforms into a handsome prince and leads her into a magical land.

The Nutcracker Ballet performances are December 6, 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15 (student night December 5) at the Templeton Performing Arts Center at1200 S. Main St. in Templeton.

Cost: $25/adults, $20/children under 12 and seniors age 60 and older. Group discounts are available for 20 people or more.
