A fire that began in a landscaping bed Monday afternoon, almost spread into a home at 54 Terrace Hill in Paso Robles.
The Department of Emergency Services responded around 3:15p.m. Monday to a single family residence fire.
The first fire engine reported heavy smoke and a rapidly advancing fire adjacent to 50 Terrace Hill.
Crews say the fire had worked its way up the hill, doing moderate damage to an exterior deck and fencing at 54 Terrace Hill.
13 firefighters were able to bring the 1/4 acre fire under control within 15 minutes and keep the deck fire from extending into the residence.
High temperatures, low humidity, and light winds quickly pushed the fire into the surrounding area.
The cause is under investigation.
