For any band trying to make its way into the big time, the question is.. how do you get noticed and get the gigs that can lead to a big break?
For the members of a new Indie band playing tomorrow night in Santa Barbara, the answer was... find a good agent...and if you can't find one... invent one.
And so "Milo Greene" was spawned--the fictional agent created by five musicians, who'd then used the made-up British promoter to help them book gigs in clubs they couldn't otherwise get into.
The band also has a Central Coast connection--a track on the band's self-titled album was recorded at a home in Santa Ynez.
Milo Greene's style is a sort of updated folk music that's both familiar and nostalgic. Four of the five members of the band had been lead singers in other groups, so this time around, they all collaborate in harmony, with no designated lead.
Milo Greene takes the stage at 9 o'clock tonight at Velvet Jones on State Street in Santa Barbara.
Tickets are $13--it's an 18 and over show.
