Tonight, the summer concert series kicks off in Paso Robles and it's fitting that a group born on the Central Coast will headline opening night at the city park downtown.
Damon Castillo and his band are true products of the eclectic music scene and their concerts have an easy, up-beat, comfort that works perfectly with a mellow summer evening.
"It's kind of a blend of the styles that we love... rock, jazz, funk, R&B," Castillo says.
He and his ensemble have toured all over the state as well as nationally. But Damon says nothing compares to a central coast gig.
"Having the hometown crowd there and playing for our hometown crowd and our local fans is the best. The park is really beautiful and it's always a warm night and it's perfect to enjoy music and have some wine, have some beers and just enjoy life on the Central Coast," Castillo says.
The concert begins at 5:30 and runs until 7:30 this evening.
Admission is free and it's sponsored by Stifel Nicolaus. There'll be food by Berry Hill Bistro, wine from J. Lohr, and beer from Firestone. Net proceeds from concessions will benefit the REC Foundation to enhance parks and recreation in Paso Robles.
