The Christopher Shumey trial continued Thursday in a San Luis Obispo courtroom.
Video was shown of Shumey being questioned at the police department, as well as an audio tape that displayed a conversation between Shumey and a police officer in the car after the interrogation.
In the video, Shumey explains he had every intention of committing suicide. He asked his mom to give him 20 minutes to calm down after an argument, and in that time went and got the gun.
According to Shumey, he was prepared to pull the trigger on himself, but when he heard his mom inside, he shot through the door, and then opened the door and shot her in the head.
The video and audio were the last pieces of evidence from the people to be presented.
In court Shumey was whispering to himself and looked unengaged and emotionless.
The trial is set to continue Friday.
