Third annual National Prep Classic tips off Wednesday with loaded field

The Central Coast will host some elite high school basketball teams starting on Wednesday during the third annual National Prep Classic. Powerhouse teams from California and even Australia will take part in St. Joseph's third annual NPC.
The Knights, San Luis Obispo and Mission Prep are in the field that includes CIF champions like Westchester and two-time NPC champion Pacific Hills.
Kentucky recruit Marcus Lee, a 6-10 post player, is one of a dozen Division I recruits, who will showcase their stuff in the Allan Hancock College gymnasium. "This year we had to move the tournament up a week because of our finals so it's changed this a little bit. Our field is a little bit smaller but we think it's just as strong if not better than last year. So we get a lot of interest from around California obviously and this year with the teams coming from Australia we're going international so that's exciting ," said tournament director and St. Joseph head coach Tom Mott.
The action starts Wednesday at 6pm at St. Joseph when San Luis Obispo plays Pasadena. The Knights play Westchester, a six-time CIF State champion, at 7:30 pm.
A full state of games is set for Thursday through Saturday at Hancock College. The schedule is listed below.
