Five Central Coast athletes competed in the State Track and Field finals on Saturday night in Clovis. None of them won but three finished second.
For a second straight year Templeton's Savannah Camacho was second in the 800 meter run behind Harvard-Westlake's Amy Weissenbach. Last year Weissenbach set the national record in the 800m finals. She was three seconds off of that mark but still easily won with a time of 2:05.70. Camacho clocked a time of 2:09.30, she will run for Oklahoma State next season.
Arroyo Grande junior Madison Jacobs finished second in the girls discuss. Jacobs' best throw was 155-09, one inch shorter than the winning throw. Redwood senior Lissette Mendivil had the best mark at 155-10.
Arroyo Grande senior Garrett Weinrich was second in the boys shot put. The senior cleared 61-11.50. Newport Harbor senior Ethan Cochran won with a throw of 62-04.25. Weinrich was third at state last year.
Cabrillo junior Rebecka Miranda was ninth in the girls triple jump. Miranda cleared 37-08.75, three feet and three inches less than the winner.
San Luis Obispo senior Christine Hoffman was 15th in the 3,200 meter. Hoffman finished in 10:43.58. The winning time was 10:12.00.
