Three Santa Barbara area beaches closed after shark sighting

State Park Officials closed three Santa Barbara area beaches after kayakers reported a shark sighting Saturday.

Two kayakers were approached by a great white shark at Tajiguas State Beach.

According to reports, the shark swam between the kayaks and lifted one out of the water.

The men were not hurt.

The State Park is closing the waters off Refugio State Beach, El Capitan State Beach, and Tajiguas Beach for 72 hours. They say that is protocol whenever there is a shark sighting.

The beaches in the area will remain open.
