Yesterday proved to be kind of a confounding day in terms of how the general weather was over the region. While the majority of the area saw plently of sunshine, some cloudiness and fog still oscillated back and forth along the coast. At times it would be right along the beaches and other times just offshore of them. Despite yesterday's easterly wind component which should have kept the marine clouds away for everyone, the offshore wind vector wasn't as strong region wide compared to specific parts of it. Thus, some places would see the clouds come back and forth. That will probably continue to be the case today. Coastal temps varied widely yesterday too. Cambria got to 84, Cayucos hit 82, and Los Osos was 77. However, Pismo only made it to 71.
Today's temperatures along the beaches will all be closer to 70 than 80, with the offshore wind push only minimal today. We'll still forecast a decent amount of sun for the majority of the beaches, but again the oscillation movement of the marine layer will mean pockets of clouds going back and forth for some beaches. Away from the shoreline, sunshine will be the rule other than some early fog to begin the day in spots,
Temperatures today in San Luis Obispo reach about 85, with Santa Maria right around 80. Santa Barbara will be in the low to mid 70s. As noted, most beaches right around 70. As you move back from the coastline a couple of miles, places like Arroyo Grande get up into the mid 70s. Pretty hot temperatures can be anticipated across the interior where areas like Paso Robles go up to about 101.
Tonight will be mostly clear, although later in the evening, pockets of fog or low clouds will again encroach some of the beaches and coastal communities. Temperatures mainly in the 50s.
