The San Luis Obispo Blues extended their winning-streak to three games with a 5-2 win over the Neptune Beach Pearl in Sinsheimer Stadium on Monday night.
The Blues, who fell 18 spots to #23 in the nation in this week's Perfect Game poll, improved to 19-10 overall.
San Luis Obispo took the lead for good with a 2-run first inning. Matt Shortall hit a run-scoring single and Alex Detz, a former Mission Prep and Cuesta star, hit a ground ball to second to drive in Shortall.
San Luis Obispo High and Cuesta graduate John Tiedemann earned the win. The right-hander, who pitches for Hofstra, allowed just 4 hits and one earned run in 4 innings of work. Parker Ray, a junior out of Texas A&M, followed with 4 shutout innings. He allowed just one hit and struck out 6. Daniel Mengden pitched a 1-2-3 ninth with two strikeouts to record the save.
The Blues added 3 runs in the third to build a 5-1 lead. Keegan Dale hit an RBI-double, Nick Flair drove in a run with a grounder to first and Taylor Anderson singled in a run to cap the scoring.
Keegan, Shortall and Anderson finished with 2 hits apeice to lead the Blues. The Blues recorded 9 hits to 5 by the Pearl.
The Blues host the California Wahoos on Tuesday night at 6 pm. A fireworks show follows the game.
