Jesus Vazquez converted a penalty kick with two minutes to play in regulation to deliver a 2-1 season-opening win for the San Luis Obispo High boys soccer team on Tuesday over Cabrillo.
The Tigers improved to 1-0 under first year head coach Frank Marotti, while the Conquistadores opened the season 0-1.
The Tigers struck first in the 19th minute on a goal from Lucas Holocher. The junior lofted it and Cabrillo goalie Michael Lowes got a hand on it, but deflected to the back of the net.
Cabrillo tied it 1-1 when a free kick outside the box was deflected by the SLO goalie, but a Conquistadore was there to boot it home to tie the match into halftime.
