Spending time at home during the Winter months can be tough for people on with allergies. But Allergists have some simple tips that you can use to avoid those indoor triggers.
Start by using exhaust fans and dehumidifiers to keep your indoor humidity level between 30 and 40 percent to avoid mold growth. Mold can cause asthma attacks and breathing problems. Experts say to be sure that Christmas trees and decorations are mold-free before bringing them inside. You can spray the trees with a hose to remove dust.
If you have a problem with dust mites, keep carpets clean, floors mopped and regularly wash bed linens. Experts also recommend upgrading to high efficiency furnace filters, which can capture 30 times more allergens.
