A local non-profit organization that teaches people about the power of healing through healthy cooking is hosting a cooking competition this week.
The Wellness Kitchen in Templeton recently moved to its new location near Twin Cities Hospital, allowing patients easier access to the center when referred by doctors after a diagnosis.
"We talk about the whole science on how the body functions with something like gluten intolerance with cancer treatment. How can we create a more inhospitable environment so cancer can't grow while working along side your doctor," said Nancy Walker, the founder of The Wellness Kitchen, which also offers cooking classes, prepared meals, and a Healing Foods program for patients who do not have the means to prepare nutritious meals.
The Wellness Kitchen has organized a Top Chef Competition to help support these services.
Thursday, October 18, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Idler's Appliances in Paso Robles three local chefs will compete out in the open while guests watch all the action.
A silent auction, wine tasting, live music, and food by The Wellness Kitchen are included with tickets which cost $50 or $65 at the door.
