A local fraternity house will honor the memory of a former fellow student Friday.
Carson Starkey was pledging at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity in 2008, when he died from alcohol poisoning during a hazing event
In his memory, his mother started the "Aware, Awake, Alive" organization, or AAA to prevent the tragedy from happening again.
On Friday at 9 a.m., the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity will hit the green at the Nipomo Blacklake Golf Course to raise money for AAA, and organizers are still looking for hole sponsors and silent auction donations.
The auction and a barbeque dinner will follow the tournament. It's at Santa Rosa Park in San Luis Obispo at 3 p.m.
For more information on the golf tournament, or to make a donation to the silent auction or sponsor a hole, call Jim Larson at (847)309-0596, or email Larson at jwlarson2@hotmail.com. You can also contact Michael Kuelpman at Delta Sigma Phi by emailing him at michael.kuelpman@gmail.com.
