People lined up in Santa Maria to see if they were the lucky winner in a fundraiser raffle benefiting local chapters of the Future Farmers of America.

Cal Coast Machinery paired up with the FFA to sell raffle tickets for a John Deer Utility Tractor and Rotary Cutter.

The prize is valued at $10,000.

Money from the raffle helps FFA members pay for field trips, feed and even animals.

"Every year we buy animals at the fair, we can help five or six kids," said Don Rose, a branch manager at Cal Coast Machinery. "This way we figure we could help a couple hundred kids. So we donated the tractor and the mower, they sold raffle tickets at $5 each and raised $24, 375."

FFA members sold more than 4,800 raffle tickets.

In the end, the tractor went to Casey Appell of Templeton.
