Traffic backed up on Highway 46 due to 2-3 vehicle accident

The California Highway Patrol is responding to a traffic accident involving 2-3 vehicles on Highway 46 just east of Whitley Gardens in northern San Luis Obispo County.
The call came in around 11:49 a.m. At least one vehicle is on fire, according to a spokesperson for the CHP. Two ambulances and a helicopter are responding to the accident.
The CHP is warning drivers that traffic in the area is backed up, and visibility is reduced due to smoke from the fire.
