They've known it was coming but it's starting. Folks in Paso Robles are going to have to deal with some detours for a long time as CalTrans works to modify the 13th Street Bridge (freeway overpass portion).
It will require a detour of Eastbound 13th Street traffic at Riverside Avenue. The eastbound lane of 13th Street west of Riverside Avenue will be closed at Riverside to through and northbound traffic.
Traffic going eastbound on 13th from Spring Street will not be able to cross Riverside to access the 13th Street Bridge nor will they be able to make a left turn at Riverside.
Traffic will be able to go south (turn right) on Riverside.
It's a bit confusing, but here's a summary of detours:
• Heading north on Spring Street, from 9th Street, turn right on 10th Street, left on Riverside then right (eastbound) on 13th.
• Heading south on Spring Street from 17th Street, turn left on 16th, right on Riverside then left (eastbound) on 13th Street.
This configuration is expected to last approximately nine months while work is being performed on the south side of the bridge.
Then work will switch to the north side of the bridge and the traffic lane configuration will be changed to accommodate this stage of construction.
