San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Deputies say a 25-year-old man is in custody tonight, accused of entering an Atascadero home, taking a shower and then stealing several items, including a handgun.
Deputies say the incident happened Tuesday morning in the 12000 block of Salinas Road, but it was reported early Wednesday morning. The person living in that home was not home when the incident happened and the home was reportedly left unlocked. The resident later told deputies a towel, deodorant, a shirt, a pair of pants, slippers, some prescription medication and a handgun were missing.
Deputies then canvassed the area and found Jacob Johnson, a transient, living in a locked storage trailer nearby. They say Johnson answered the door wearing the missing slippers, pants and shirt. Deputies also found the missing handgun. Johnson will be booked on charges of possessing stolen property. Stay with ksby.com and tune in at 6, 10 and 11 for more on this story.
