SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - A 62-year-old transit worker has died after getting hit by a bus in a San Jose maintenance yard.
The San Jose Mercury News (http://bit.ly/10nTnWB ) reports Raul Apostol died in a hospital Thursday after he was hit by the bus in the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority's bus yard Tuesday night.
VTA spokeswoman Brandi Childress told the newspaper that Apostol was working his usual late-night shift, when he typically cleaned and fueled buses, when the bus hit him.
An unidentified VTA employee was driving the bus. The driver has been placed on administrative leave, a standard procedure, while state workplace investigators and sheriff's deputies investigate.
Santa Clara County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jose Cardoza says no arrests have been made or citations issued in the incident.
Cal-OSHA is also investigating. The Cal-OSHA investigation could take up to six months, while the sheriff's department investigation could take weeks.
