Students at Old Mission Catholic School in San Luis Obispo should be beaming with pride.
During their annual "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF" program, the school says children raised nearly $600.
Since 2003, the total collected by Old Mission Catholic School students is more than $4,000.
Old Mission will again be acknowledged on UNICEF's international website as a delegate-level school starting January 2012.
Since the "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF" program started in 1950, children in the U.S. have collected nearly $160 million by going door-to-door with the trademark orange collection boxes on Halloween and by planning fundraisers with their school or group.
According to UNICEF's website, the money helps to provide medicine, better nutrition, safe water, education, emergency relief and other support to children in more than 150 countries.
