MIAMI (AP) - A tropical storm warning has been extended to include part of the Florida Panhandle as Tropical Storm Lee has begun to crawl northward again. Tropical storm warnings now stretch from Sabine Pass, Texas to Destin, Florida.
The National Hurricane center in Miami says the center of the storm remains offshore, about 55 miles south of Lafayette, Louisiana. It had been stationary for several hours earlier Saturday, but was moving about 4 mph (6 kph) in the late afternoon.
The center of the storm was expected to come ashore later Saturday. Its maximum sustained winds remained at 60 mph (95 kph). Fluctuations in strength were forecast to give way to gradual weakening by Sunday.
