One southbound lane of Highway 101 through Carpinteria is closed, as crews work to put out a tire on fire on a semi-truck, according to the California Highway Patrol incident website. A CHP spokesperson confirms the truck is hauling jet fuel.

Emergency crews had discussed possible evacuations of nearby homes and businesses, but at this point they say there is little to no chance that the truck will explode. According the CHP website, the freeway should reopen by 3:25 p.m.
