The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department says a tsunami warning is still in effect. It is expected to last through the late afternoon, and possibly into the early evening.

All of the voluntary evacuations for Avila Beach, Port San Luis, areas of Oceano, Morro Bay, Cayucos and Pismo Beach are also still in effect, and officials do not know at this time when they will be lifted.

At a press conference this afternoon, deputies said more than 1,000 people were asked to leave their homes.
