Representatives from Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton were in the nation's capitol this week to receive the Beacon Award from the American Academy of Critical Care Nurses.

It is one of just 36 hospitals in the United States to achieve the award. The hospital said it puts Twin Cities Critical Care Department in the top 2 percent of hospitals.

Recruitment and retention, patient outcomes and leadership and organization ethics were just some of the areas where the hospital came out on top.

"The staff of the critical care unit at Twin Cities made a collective and individual commitment to meet and exceed the stringent Beacon requirements," said Don Baker, the Director of Twin Cities Critical Care Unit.
