Two felony charges filed against former Cal Poly assistant coach

Former Lompoc softball coach accused of having sex with players enters plea

Former Cal Poly assistant coach Randy Hanson will face two felony charges for his alleged involvement in a Pismo Beach bar fight that happened earlier this month.

Hanson is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and battery with serious bodily injury. The 44 year old is scheduled to be arraigned on September 5.

Hanson was arrested on August 4 for allegedly hitting another person over the head with a beer bottle. Cal Poly Athletic Director Don Oberhelman suspended Hanson indefinitely on August 6. Hanson resigned from his post as defensive backs coach last Friday.
