Two North County residents injured in fatal accident

Two North County residents are injured after a fatal weekend accident on Highway 46.

The accident happened Saturday night on South Highway 46 in Kern County, just east of San Luis Obispo County. The California Highway Patrol says a 20-year-old woman was speeding when she lost control of her car and hit a pick-up truck.

Her passenger suffered major injuries, and then later died from those injuries. Both the the driver and passenger of the truck, Manuel and Maria Mosqueda suffered moderate injuries. They are both from San Miguel.
