Two people are arrested after an alleged domestic violence incident. The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's department says the incident happened Sunday morning on the 3000-block of Nacimiento Lake Drive in Paso Robles. Authorities say they responded to a report of a physical fight and firearm discharge.
In this case, a woman is accused of battering her fiance. Machel Schoepf, 38, of Paso Robles, was taken into custody. Sheriff's deputies say she brandished a loaded firearm and discharged a round into the ground during an argument in front of their home. The alleged victim is 39-year-old Lloyd Cockayne of Paso Robles. He sustained minor injuries because of the incident. Schoepf was booked into the San Luis Obispo County jail for inflicting corporal injury on a cohabitant and grossly negligent discharge of a firearm, both felonies, and for misdemeanor brandishing of a firearm. She is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
The story gets even more interesting. Further investigation revealed the presence of an additional firearm and a police style baton illegally possessed by Cockayne, a felon on supervised state parole. He was taken into custody for being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a restricted dangerous weapon which are both felonies. Cockayne was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail and is currently being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
