Two people named "Senior Citizen of the Year"

May is "Older Americans Month" and some seniors were honored this afternoon in Buellton.

The Area Agency on Aging sponsored the annual celebration luncheon. Butch Abeloe and Phyllis Searle were both named "Senior Citizen of the Year." Abeloe dedicated his time to driving seniors to medical appointments throughout Santa Barbara County. Searle spent her time teaching English to adults, along with teaching a bible study class, and a first grade Sunday school class. Seven seniors were nominated for the award.
