New data reveals the risk of developing dementia is significantly higher among older Native Americans and African Americans with Type 2 Diabetes.
Diabetes patients over the age of 60 already have double the risk of developing dementia than non-diabetics.
Researchers studied 22,000 Type 2 Diabetes patients. They found Native Americans were 64 percent more likely to develop dementia than Asian Americans, who have the lowest risk. African Americans were 44 percent more likely to develop dementia than Asian Americans.
