SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Cal Poly baseball team fell to UC Santa Barbara 8-6 on Friday night at Baggett Stadium.
Cal Poly starter Matt Imhof - who had allowed just six earned runs all season - lasted just three plus innings and surrendered six earned runs in the loss.
The Mustangs scored the first two runs in the second inning, but the Gauchos came right back and scored four at the top of the third on a pair of home runs.
More action took place during the fourth inning, with both the Gauchos and the Mustangs scoring three each including Chris Hoo's homer to left field which made the score 7-5 UC Santa Barbara.
Cal Poly's Nick Torres got a run in bottom of the fifth, but was answered by a UC Santa Barbara run in the top of the sixth by Joey Epperson.
The three game series continues tomorrow night at 6:00 PM at Baggett Stadium.
