Students at UCSB hold a sit-in to protest budget cuts and a proposed fee increase.

Nearly a dozen students protested outside the office of UCSB Chancellor, Henry T. Yang, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Monday. On Thursday, the University of California Board of Regents will vote to increase undergraduate fees by 32%, because of cuts that have already been made on UC campuses.

Students say UCSB is also increasing additional technology fees. They say they have asked Chancellor Yang to oppose the proposed fee increase and participate in meetings to negotiate a list of demands, but he has refused.

Students say they will hold a press conference at noon outside of Cheadle Hall.
