The nice weather had students at UCSB celebrating "Floatopia" in the streets Saturday, after local law enforcement shut down the Isla Vista beaches for the second weekend in a row.
Sheriff's deputies patrolled the area all day, hoping to keep the annual beach bash under control. Back in 2009 nearly 12,000 people flooded Isla Vista and trashed the beaches.
The closures will remain in effect for the rest of the weekend. Some students were disappointed but others were making the best of it.
"It's such a beautiful day out too, you know like it would have been so fun just to be in our bathing suits, hanging out on the beach with everybody," said Anjelica Gonzales.
"We're respecting that they're letting us stay here and we're keeping our distance, and just respecting the law," said Rob Tobias, a student at UCSB.
The sheriff's department has not released any information regarding arrests or hospitalizations.
