Behind a torrid 75 percent shooting in the second half, the UC Santa Barbara women's basketball team overcame a halftime deficit to beat visiting Cal State Fullerton 52-39 Thursday night in a Big West affair.
The Gauchos shot just 26% in the first half and trailed 19-16 at the break, before making 15 of their 20 shoots from the field in the second half. The win snapped a four-game losing skid by the Gauchos and marked their 39th-straight win over the Titans, the second-longest active streak between conference teams in the nation.
UCSB improved to 4-6 in Big West play and 9-13 overall, while Fullerton dropped to 2-9 in conference action.
Kirsten Tilleman led the Gauchos with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Sweets Underwood added 8 points and 7 rebounds. UCSB outscored Fullerton 26-8 in the paint. Emilie Johnson added 11 points for the Gauchos.
UCSB hosts Cal State Bakersfield in a non-conference game at 2pm on Saturday in the annual breast cancer awareness game.
