Off to its first 3-0 start since 2006, the Cal Poly football team has cracked the top 25 for the first time this season. The Mustangs are ranked #23 in the Sports Network FCS Media Poll and in the FCS Coaches Poll. This is the first national ranking for the Mustangs since 2010.
In the Media Poll, Cal Poly received 651 votes to enter the top 25. North Dakota State remains #1. Fellow Big Sky Conference teams Montana State (#2), Eastern Washington (#7), Montana (#21) and Northern Arizona (#22) are also in the top 25 this week.
The Mustangs tallied 95 votes in the Coaches Poll to crack the top 25. Reigning National Champion North Dakota State stayed atop the Coaches Poll. Montana State is ranked #2, Eastern Washington is #7 and Montana is tabbed #20 in the poll. Fellow Big Sky team Northern Arizona just missed the top 25.
The 3-0 Mustangs won their Big Sky Conference opener last Saturday 28-20 over rival UC Davis in the Battle for the Golden Horseshoe. Cal Poly plays at (3-1,1-0) North Dakota this Saturday.
