An unexpected catch has turned up in the waters of Lake Tahoe.
Researchers from the University of Nevada reeled in a giant goldfish while trawling the lake recently.
The monster goldfish weighed in at a whopping 4.2 pounds and was more than a foot long.
In fact, large goldfish seem to be multiplying in the pristine waters of Lake Tahoe. It's an unusual phenomenon considering the fish aren't native to freshwater lakes.
Biologists believe it's the result of fish bowl and aquarium dumping which could ultimately effect the ecology of the lake.
Researchers regularly survey the lake looking for other breeds of invasive species.
