Local trade unions bought ice cream today for anyone stopping by Doc Burstein's Ice Cream Lab in Arroyo Grande from 1-6 p.m.
Arroyo Grande Mayor Tony Ferrara joined Steven Weiner of the Tri-Counties Construction Trades Council in front of Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream Lab. Both spoke against the unwarranted activity of the Carpenters Local Union #150 of Camarillo that has been protesting outside the local ice cream emporium since late October.
The Construction Trades Council has been privately objecting to unfair ‘bannering' tactics of the Carpenter's Union for years, and is so frustrated with their tactics that they want to make a public statement of support for a business unfairly targeted by the Carpenter's Union.
The sponsoring unions also showcased training and apprenticeship programs their unions offer members.
