After more than 15 months in orbit, an Air Force unmanned space plane returned to earth early Saturday morning.

The X-37B orbital test vehicle landed at Vandenberg Air Force Base just before dawn.

It conducted undisclosed experiments during the 469 day mission.

It's the second of two identical craft launched into orbit for extended periods.

In 2010, the first unmanned space plane spent seven months in orbit.

Another mission is planned for later this year.
