Untrimmed trees targeted as cause for of Miguelito Canyon fire

Santa Barbara County Fire and CAL FIRE investigators have concluded the Miguelito Fire happened because of untrimmed trees that came in contact with a live power line.

Investigators say on May 13th a 12,000 volt power line feeding the power plant at 2500 San Miguelito Rd. in Lompoc, contacted a tree causing embers to drop down and ignite the dry brush along the hillside.

The fire is 95% contained. Full containment is expected by 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
