Vandenberg Air Force Base has planned a ballistic missile test flight tomorrow morning, and with it, comes a milestone.
The Minuteman III ballistic missile launch will test the weapon system's reliability and accuracy. It will also mark Vandenberg's 1900th liftoff since 1957.
"We're constantly looking back and understanding how we accomplish the first step and how that relates to making the current steps more efficient, starting from our very first liquid rockets all the way through the solid propelled vehicles that we fly today," said Director Donald Prichard with the Vandenberg Space and Heritage Center.
The launch is scheduled at North Vandenberg between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m.
