The Santa Barbara County Bomb Squad arrived to the Santa Maria Police Department after a "suspicious package" was found Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the package is a small safe. They believe a man brought it to the Police station after he found it in the street. That man cooperating with police.

As a precaution police have closed Cook Street, from Miller to Main Street, along with McClelland Street from Jones to Main Street. Police are allowing pedestrians to past through the area.

Buildings surrounding the Police Department have been evacuated as a precaution.
