UPDATE: Brush fire breaks out in Los Padres National Forest

Santa Barbara County and USFS firefighters are battling a wildfire in the Los Padres National Forest.

It broke out around 2:40 on Monday afternoon in the White Rock area off of Paradise Road, east of Lake Cachuma.

At last report, the fire had burned 500 acres, but fire officials said it was growing quickly.

There is a high wind warning in effect for the area which poses a difficulty for firefighters, who are on the scene on the ground and in the air.

There are 14 engines on the scene.

Several campgrounds in the surrounding area have been evacuated.

Fifty structures are threatened.

Paradise Road is closed, along with a section of Highway 154.
