California Highway Patrol says a car hit a Greyhound bus holding 38 passengers head-on early Friday morning.

It happened just after 3:00 in the morning on south-bound Highway 101 near San Anselmo Road in Atascadero.

CHP says the car was driving at a high rate of speed, in the wrong direction, when it hit the bus.

The driver has been identified as Paso Robles resident David Campoverde, 22. Campoverde was transported to a nearby hospital and then arrested on DUI charges.

Three passengers in the bus were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and then released. The remaining passengers were transported to the Denny's in Atascadero where they waited for another bus.

One lane was closed until 7:30 causing minor delays to Friday morning commuters.

The Greyhound bus was traveling from Oakland to Southern California.
