UPDATE: fire burning near UCSB reaches 20 acres, 10% containment

Firefighters say the fire burning near the UCSB campus has grown to 20 acres, and one home has been evacuated.

The fire started around 9:40 p.m. Thursday at the Coal Oil Point in Goleta. The fire is burning near the Venoco storage tanks and buildings. One home east of the fire was threatened and evacuated because there was a sudden shift in wind, but firefighters say no structures have been lost.

As of 1:00 a.m. Friday, the fire was at 20 acres, 10 percent containment, and wind had subsided.

Crews will be on scene throughout the morning trying to contain the fire.

There are reports there may have been fireworks of a transformer explosion before the fire started. A person of interest was contacted by law enforcement.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
