According to the Five Cities Fire Authority, fire officials are still investigating the causes of two separate house fires in Grover Beach.

The first fire happened at a duplex on the corner of 4th Street and Brighton Avenue on Friday night. The fire was contained to one unit in the complex, but the home was so damaged that it is unsafe for the family to live in.

A second fire was reported Saturday night in the 1500 block of Nice Avenue near 16th Park. Officials believe the fire started in the backyard and spread to the home. No other structures were damaged, but that home was also severely damaged. Officials say the house has been boarded up.

There is no evidence that the fires are connected in any way, and officials are continuing their investigation efforts.

No injuries were reported in either fire.
