Hundreds of people are in the dark Friday morning after a car crash and fire took out power to a large area in Paso Robles.
It happened around 10pm Thursday at the intersection of South River and Charlois Road.
According to Paso Robles Police, a 16 year old driver was going over the speed limit when he crashed into a power pole, causing another pole to fall along with some electrical lines. The car then caught fire, trapping the boy inside.
Crews had to use the jaws of life to remove him, and he was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Police say, multiple streets in the area will remain closed Friday morning, while crews clean up the scene. They should open back up later that afternoon.
More than 300 customers are without power as of 7am Friday, and is expected to be restored around 9:30am.
