Caltrans continues to work on Hwy. 1 in both San Luis Obispo and Monterey counties.
In San Luis Obispo County, construction is still going on for the installation of several horizontal drains, one mile north of Ragged Point. Construction is only happening during the day, with one way traffic control from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Thursday, and until 2:00 p.m. on Fridays. Work on this section of the road should be done by the end of February.
In Monterey County, a temporary signal is in place to slow drivers near Gamboa point, where crews are working on a retaining wall project. There is also a temporary signal about two miles north of Lucia at Pitkins Curve for a bridge/ rock shed project. That signal will be operational until the project is complete in 2013.
Rock slope protection continues on Hwy. 1 at Shale Point, about nine miles north of Ragged Point. One-way traffic control will continue there from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through mid- April.
