KSBY has learned more information about the officer-involved shooting near Los Alamos.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department says a woman felt threatened as her significant other pulled a knife on her while he was driving.
Deputies say the woman called 911 and reported that her two year old child was in the car as well.
Around 4:00 p.m. Sunday, deputies found the driver on Highway 135 and stopped the vehicle.
CHP says the man got out of the car and made the officer feel threatened for his life and safety, that's when the CHP officer shot the man several times.
We asked CHP if the man charged at the officer with a knife, but we did not get an answer. They did say they found a weapon.
He was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
A 20 year veteran working for California Highway Patrol shot the man.
