UPDATE: Southbound lanes of Highway 101 in Goleta reopen after deadly crash

Caltrans says the southbound lanes of Highway 101 in Goleta have reopened after a two-vehicle accident that killed one person.

The accident happened Tuesday around 10:12 a.m. on Highway 101 South near Dos Pueblos Canyon.

Officials say while the southbound lanes are open, traffic is moving slowly through the area. The northbound side has remained open since the crash.

Santa Barbara County Fire Department officials say a flatbed truck towing a trailer heading north on Highway 101 crossed the center divider and hit a pickup truck heading south.

They say one person in the pickup truck died at the scene and another was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The driver of the flatbed truck was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
