NEW YORK (AP) - The man accused of murdering a 6-year-old boy in one of New York City's most notorious missing child cases has been examined by psychologists.

Police say Pedro Hernandez was taken to Bellevue Hospital early Friday to get medication for an existing health problem.

While he was there, psychologists questioned him about his mental state. Police wouldn't disclose the existing health condition.

Hernandez is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in the 1979 slaying of Etan Patz (AY'-tahn PAYTS'). The boy vanished while on his way to his bus stop in New York City.

Police say Hernandez has confessed to killing the child.

Friday marks the 33rd anniversary of his disappearance. The date is now recognized as National Missing Children's Day.
